Delivery of Christmas cards on behalf of the Hankelow and Audlem churches

For a number of years I have delivered the local Churches Christmas card to every house in Hankelow with the help of a lady who has now moved to Derbyshire, so I am looking for someone who would deliver to the following houses:

Cottages past the Nook and Swedish Houses and those opposite on main road, Hankelow view cul de sac and the new Heywood homes development, and Longhill Lane.

I am happy to deliver to the rest of the village as usual but would appreciate an extra pair of feet. It would have to be done in the first week of December to suit the person delivering.

Please contact Anne on 812960, or by email at anne@advantage-gb.co.uk

Appeal for information about the Timmis family.

My husband and I are spending a week in the Nantwich area at the moment, having visited for the first time approximately 20yrs ago.

During WWII, my father Henry Fennell, a Gunner RA, became friends with a ? Timmis living at 2 Council Houses, Hankelow. Occasionally my mother, my sister and I lived with the Timmis family to escape N London. In Aug 1944, my father warned Mum that the enemy were about to start bombing London with doodlebugs so to take herself, my sister of 3mths & me (3ys) to stay with the Timmis family. I have a good memory of my childhood from the age of 3yrs, recalling times here, the family & the US soldiers with their saying, “Got any gum, chum?” etc. Unfortunately, whilst we were here, my grandfather was killed when a bomb did actually demolish the house we all lived in. Mum had to leave my baby sister with the Timmis family for a few weeks and return with me to settle the family affairs.

My parents are now no longer with us, so I wonder if you possibly have any updated news of the Timmis family? I was surprised to see that the family ran a grocers shop as wasn’t aware of this. A big, big thank you to them from my sister and I for their kind assistance all those years ago.

With best wishes and in anticipation of any assistance.

Pamela Whitworth nee Fennell.

If anyone can help Pamela please contact me and I will pass on your information.
