Our postman of over 20 year, Malcolm "Chalky" White, retired in the Autumn of 2014. Malcolm was held in such great affection by Hankelow's citizens that, when Gin Foster and Ian Jones organised a village retirement present, no less than £646 was raised.

On Wednesday 12th November, cricket-lover Malcolm and his daugher joined some 40 villagers in the White Lion where he was presented with a ticket for the David Heath Suite at Edgebaston cricket ground for 2nd day of the 3rd Investec Test Match on Thursday 30th July 2015.

The balance of the public donation was presented to Malcolm in cash, together with private donations from several villagers.

The photograph immediately below (image © Charlie Foster) shows Malcolm receiving the village's retirement present.

The image below the photograph shows the front of the "thank you" card that Malcolm subsequently sent. The final image shows the contents of the card.
